Salary per: annum

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has created an exciting, new opportunity for a senior clinician to provide clinical and strategic leadership to the College, its fellows and members and staff, on matters relating to digital healthcare. The RCP is committed to working with NHSX, and others, to deliver solutions to the technology issues clinicians face every day and so this is an enviable opportunity to support and influence this important work.

You will be a Consultant-level medical doctor, or other senior healthcare professional, with current registration to practice. Enthusiasm for healthcare quality improvement and patient safety is vital and ideally, you’ll have experience of implementing new technologies or evaluating digital healthcare solutions and driving improvements that benefit patients. We are seeking a leader who can work effectively as part of a team, whilst initiating and maintaining operational and strategic relationships with external colleagues and stakeholders, including patients and carers. We will appoint a Clinical Director with strong communication and lobbying skills; a translator, someone who is equally comfortable with clinical informaticians and non-experts working in clinical practice.

The role is funded up to 4PAs per week basis (reimbursable to employing NHS Trust), although activity may be consolidated. You will be working with, and supported by, enthusiastic multi-disciplinary teams across the Care Quality Improvement Directorate (CQID) and wider College. The role will be supervised by the Clinical Vice President and Executive Director of the Care Quality improvement Directorate, and opportunities for personal and professional development will be sought following discussion and depending upon need.

Informal discussions about the role are welcome and can be arranged by contacting Rhona Buckingham, Executive Director, Care Quality Improvement Department Rhona.Buckingham@rcplondon.ac.uk
