It is an exciting time to be joining the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which has resulted from the merger of The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital NHS Trusts. The merger took place on 1 April 2020 and under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names. This will bring many benefits for patients and opportunities for staff. Both hospitals will retain their identity with individual hospital names and key services will remain on both sites and be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. Travel between hospital sites may be required.
Through tremendous commitment and hard work, our Paediatrics, Emergency Care Services and Outpatient Services achieved “Outstanding” in our 2016 Care Quality Commission inspection. Similarly we had an overall rating of “Good” across the rest of the hospital. We were praised as compassionate, empathetic and exhibiting patient outcomes above the average when compared with other acute Trusts.
We are a regional centre of excellence for several key specialties including, Obesity Research, Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services. We are a tertiary level NICU provider and one of the largest centres for breast screening in the country.

The newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Chief Digital Information Officer. This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years whilst the current post holder gains further Digital experience of the other sector NHS Provider organisations.
We are looking for a strong and credible leader to join the Executive team and represent Digital at Board level. We are a high performing Trust, with an outstanding track record of Digital innovation and delivery, we are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills who can continue to build on the success of the organisation and in doing so, drive forward our Digital vision and HIMSS 7 strategy. A strong network builder and a digital visionary, they will work collaboratively with the CCIO, CEO, and CTO, our commissioners, stakeholders, and NHS X, HIMSS Europe and Bedfordshire Care Alliance partners in shaping healthcare for the future.
